Under current legislation, the original test results must be held on file at the clinic before we are permitted to inseminate you. You must ensure that the test results have been received and approved by us by contacting us by telephone or email, before you attend your insemination treatment. Hepatitis B (HBsAG and antiHBc), Hepatitis C and HIV blood tests should be no older than 2 years, and must be analyzed by an ISO-certified laboratory.
If you will be undergoing treatment where the man’s sperm is to be used, he must have the same blood tests taken and submitted to us. These must also be analyzed by an ISO-certified laboratory.
The tests and investigations that form the basis of treatment and that we consider important in connection with fertility counseling are:
Under Danish legislation, tests must be analyzed at a laboratory certified according to the Danish Tissue Act (in Copenhagen, this is the blood bank at Rigshospitalet).
We are not authorised to treat you if you are infected with HIV, or hepatitis B or C.
The two tests shown below are carried out via a gynaecological examination, either at your own doctor/gynaecologist or at our clinics.
• that you take a blood test to examine whether your body has created rubella-antibodies due to an earlier “rubella” infection, or as a result of a vaccination. If you are not immune, we would advise you to be vaccinated before your fertility treatment, as an infection during pregnancy can lead to severe embryonic deformities. After an MMR vaccination, there must be an interval of at least 1 month before you may become pregnant.
• that you also have your hormone values measured by means of a blood test taken on the 2nd to 3rd day of your menstrual cycle - FSH (max. 1 year old), TPO and TSH.
If you have previously had an infection of the uterus or the fallopian tubes, or have had chlamydia or gonorrhoea, scar tissue may have formed in the fallopian tubes which prevents eggs and sperm cells from passing. Unfortunately, you may also have had a “silent infection”, i.e. one without any symptoms. We therefore recommend that you are examined by a gynaecologist before you undertake insemination, to evaluate your chances of becoming pregnant using Insemination.
In order to treat you, if you have previously tested positive for MRSA, you must be able to provide at least 3 negative MRSA swabs after the treatment for MRSA ended. The last swab must have been taken at least 6 months after the treatment ended.
If you have been in contact with a person infected with MRSA within the last 6 months, or have been treated at a hospital or clinic outside the Nordic region, the risk of infection and possibility of receiving treatment will be evaluated by the clinic’s doctors.
